In partnership with Bear Valley Unified School District Education Channel 3 and the Mihaylo Foundation the Big Bear Cowboy Education Committee seeks to expose the Big Bear Valley students to cowboy history and culture of the Southwest and Big Bear Valley.
Teachers will be supplied lesson plans and children will have quality learning experience and an opportunity to write poems or short stories for competition. The winning students will present their writing on stage at the Big Bear Cowboy Gathering and Big Bears Wild West Storyfest and will win a US Savings Bond. In addition, many students will be featured reading their work on Big Bears Education Channel 3.
The Cowboy Education Committee will use the following seven areas of emphasis in the study of cowboy culture. They are: Attitudes, Lifestyle, Belief Systems, Creativity, Environment, Economics and Observations.
Through the Mihaylo Foundation the Cowboy Gathering Committee has awarded a $750.00 Bob Harris Memorial Scholarship to an AVID senior at Big Bear High School. This scholarship is endowed through the Foundation and we look forward to increasing the scholarship in the future.
The Gathering Committee is very excited about the partnership we are building with the Bear Valley School District. Working together for the betterment of our valley students.
